Mother's Day AdviceIt’s funny the things you remember when thinking about Mother’s Day.

I remember the first time I was stung by a bee. I was 7 and thought I was dying, so I laid in the grass, closed my eyes, and said a prayer.

(Obviously, things weren’t quite as serious as I thought.)

Or the time my brother tried to run away from home and got halfway down the street before he got hungry and turned back. Mom was our superhero those days. She saved us, and that’s what moms do. They’re the first responders. Superman in a minivan. Their words are magic and their spirit is what fuels us.

So, in the spirit of Mother’s Day, we asked clients and employees the best advice their mother ever gave them. This is what they had to say:

  • My mom sent me napkins and pieces of paper where she had written, “She thought she could, so she did.”
  • Always look on the bright side, and be open to life’s surprises and possibilities.
  • When you start feeling sorry for yourself, find someone to serve.
  • How she expressed her affection: a hug and kiss on the lips — even today at age 70, with daughters in their 40s and 50s.
  • My mom gave me a token that says, “Be brave, have courage and remember I’ll always be with you.”

We’d like to wish our clients, their families, and everyone here in our great state of South Carolina a happy Mother’s Day. Whether you’re celebrating your mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, or anyone who was an important positive mother figure in your life, we hope you’ll take time on May 14th to give them a call or stop by for a visit to remind them of what a difference they made for you.
